Spay incontinence

I posted on here a little while ago that I was pleased that my dog has finally started to pee outdoors when she used to only go on her pads.

Well she was spayed 2.5 weeks ago. Since her spay I have noticed some instances of her having accidents. They don't happen all day or everyday but yesterday there was a small wet spot on my bed...Lucy would NEVER pee on the bed. Today I noticed a small wet spot on the carpet. I can think of just a handful times I've noticed it before in the last couple weeks. Is this a temporary side effect of a recent spay or is this possibly the condition known as spay incontinence? I knew this was a possibility spaying her before her first heat but I just didn't want to deal with the mess of the heat cycle and I felt like I would rather risk her having this condition. Well now, I'm a little bummed and thinking that maybe her peeing outside is not just a step in her maturity but that she may be having some incontinence. In addition to this we are dealing with a parasite she picked up at some point recently (coccidia). It's just been a mess with her since her spay...and this new possible condition doesn't seem to help.

We had set backs like that after Zelda was spayed. She just got lazy and forgot a lot of her training. But she bounced back after a few weeks. Now at 8 months, she randomly started peeing on a rug that she never used have problems with. I think they just go through phases. But if something really doesn't seem right, I'd want a vet's opinion.

Thank you for easing my nerves! I just wasn't sure if it was just a phase, an effect from the spay, or an actual condition. I am relieved to hear that Zelda starting having some pee issues too (while not a good thing for you! LOL). Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing somewhere that adolescent dogs go through a regression stage with housebreaking around this age (she's 7 months). If it starts happening everyday, I may make an appt with the vet. We just shelled out a lot of money this month for her between the spay, keeping her at the vet for the day due to dehydration from this parasite plus all the meds and stool samples! I am sort of trying to hold off for now if this is something that should have been expected! lol
Poor Lucy has had a rough month!
