Exclamation Taylor has tapeworms? EGH!!

Ok so after Taylor went out tonight I noticed some lil white..granual thingies on her backside that looked like tiny grains of rice.. As these are my first dogs I don't know what they are so I of course run to google..and I think they're caused by tapeworms?? ...this must have come from the humane society as here she's on revolution with Capote and I've never had a problem with him either. So tomorrow I'm going to Petsmart and buying some dewormer. My question for you..has any of your dogs ever had this?? If so which is the best medicine??

Egh...I'm so itchy right now... tapeworms..gross!! I know I can't get it unless I somehow swallow a flea..which my dogs don't have but it just gives me the creepy crawley heeby jeebies.. ::shivers:: ...should I do something to my house?? Bomb it or something?? (insect bomb..not..nuclear.. though that does sound like a good option as well! lol)

Ewww...Sounds like tapeworms to me.
You probably want to get wormer from the Vet...I've heard that the kind that you buy at the petstore isn't as effective and can have side effects.

I agree about getting a good wormer from the vet. Bodie had them when we got him from the shelter. I never saw anything, but when I took him to the vet the first day for a once over before bringing him home. He stuck the stick thingy up his bum, and it came out with a tapeworm. Guess they're hard to actually see like that. So, he was surprised. He'd already been wormed at the pound, but he gave me another one or two things. Can't remember. But, it did the trick I guess. Went back a week later and all was clear. I never did see any sign of them. Which was good, cause eww..I hate worms!!

It's a common thing. Get a pill from your VET not a pet store and it's all taken care of.

All it takes is swallowing one little flea and your dog can get tapeworms. A walk through a pet store or down the street can do it. Luckily it's easy to treat.
