No, my boyfriend arrived just before the last run and was going to shoot a video, but as soon as the dogs saw him they went crazy (he likes to play with him and they just love him). They were completely silly in the ring, looking everywhere for him and not doing anything right. They both NQ'd. Even if he got video i wouldn't post it!
It was a tough course, they had the off-set figure 8 with food bowls just beside the jump, they also had a recall right beside the jump. Nasty judge to make such a challenging course!
Oh, I know that feeling!!! One place we trial has a very nice room for people to hang out, have lunch and crate their dogs, then a wide hallway that goes in several directions, and off that is the room with the ring. There is JUST room for the ring, a row of chairs against the wall, and a narrow strip where you can do your last minute warm-up. I was in that space, next dog to go into the ring, and Dave showed up. I took one look at him (Kodi hadn't noticed him yet) and said in a panicky half-whisper, "NOW IS NOT
A GOOD TIME!!!"
He turned on his heel and went out. But I hurt his feelings, and he hasn't come to a trial since.
If he'd been there all day, it would have been fine. It was the showing up RIGHT before we went in the ring that was a problem!
Your CARO courses (and the scoring scale) sound like they are similar to our World Cynosport Rally. (was APDT) WCR is cored on a total possible 200 plus 10 bonus points. (you can't NQ on the bonus, and it can't negatively effect your score, only increase it)
Last year we had a course where you had to heel back and forth right near the food bowls about 3 times before entering the offset figure 8, then later in the course there was a send over jump heading RIGHT toward the bowls. It was OK for Kodi because he's small, but some of the bigger, longer striding dogs were landing practically IN the food bowls before they could turn. There were a LOT of NQ's!
Is the CARO offset figure 8 2 bowls or 4? AKC just uses 2, WCR makes you figure 8 around 2, while two others act as distractors. (it looks like a diamond, were you figure 8 around the two points of the diamond)
Kodi USED to be really solid on that exercise until we had a judge put freeze dried LIVER in the bowls!!! I COULD not get him off those bowls, and finally had to carry him out of the ring. We've had to do a LOT of training since then to fix the broken figure 8. Most judges around here put food in the bowls, but something lower value, like kibble or dog biscuits. In fairness to the judge, I think she just hadn't thought it through. I've shown under her many times since then, and she has NEVER put such a high value treat (and one that many dogs use regularly as a training treat) in the bowls.
Still it sounds like you girls had a STELLAR weekend, even with a couple of NQ's thrown in. You have every right to be EXTREMELY proud of them both!
