October 14th to the 19th in Las Vegas. Too far from me, unfortunately, but maybe not for you

Even with travel aside, the dates just don't work for me. I'm still in school, and a week off just doesn't work.

YIPPEE! That's about 3 hours away by car. We will definitely be there! Ricky will compete in something but don't know what yet.

This will be my first National Specialty and Ricky's second. He competed in Puppy Conformation at the 2014 National in Portland,OR with his previous owner and was a place winner there. He can't compete in Conformation anymore because he is not intact but he can still do that show ring strut and he loves an audience. We'll do something in obedience I suppose. Anyone else going?

Me too! I enjoyed all the photos and news updates, even though I couldnít be there! And I donít think the dates OR the distance will work for us next year... I donít think itís fair to make my dogs travel all the way to Las Vegas and then ask them to perform. Thatís an ugly trip from here! Chicago is already a two day trip. And I always have a committment mid Oct. so hile Iím glad that they moved it to Oct. for those who WILL be there, I doubt very much that weíll make it. If 2020 is a reasonable drive, Iíll sure try! And if you do come east, we have a number of lovely ďclustersĒ at a great fair grounds facility in central MA, where they run obdedience, rally, agility and conformation, all in ac, and good footing! You should set your sights on one of those! Lots of dog-friendly hotels nearby too.

I didnít realize that Annie and Shama were there too! Thatís great! Hope they had fun too!!!

Australia was AMAZING! ...except for over 30 hours of flying and a 14 hour time change to get home. I donít think I have two brain cells firing at a time right now.

A friend came and washed and combed out Kodi and Panda twice while I was gone, and the lady who took care of the, on week days also combed them out every other day. So their coats were in beautiful shape when I got back. Panda blew a lot of coat in her last heat, and itís JUST starting to grow back. Iíd hate to be yanking out hair in a dematting session now! (One good thing about boys is that the hormones are constant, so donít affect their coat so much!) For THAT reason, Iím glad she wasnít entered at the specialty... she looks like a puppy right now... fluffy, but not much length to her coat!

They sure were! And I think Annie took more photos in her one day there than I did in my 6 days. I always say I'll take lots of photos then end up too caught up in things

I remember that travel time well...and I did it post-septic shock. Hehe, story for another time. We were lucky enough to fly the cushy QANTAS home, and got a full day layover in Dallas with family, so it could have been much worse. Glad you got back safely

I fly Cathy Pacific to Asia, and they are pretty cushy too. But it doesn't matter HOW cushy when you are cooped up in the dark, in the same seat for that many hours.

...And septic shock is NOT something I want to experience, thank you very much!

Nice job, Sophie, Nino, and Brisket! My favorite part of Nino's rally performance was his hairstyle! If you all want to see a Novice A dog compared to Nino in Time To Beat, where all classes of dogs run the same course, here's Shama:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DSH...ew?usp=sharing

I was happy because I was just using that run as a warm-up to the space. She managed seven obstacles, including A-frame and teeter before petering out at the tunnel.

It was really fun going to Nationals (although we were only at agility, not the rest). I highly recommend it to you all, in any area - conformation, obedience, rally, agility, trick . . .

Yes, I take a lot of pictures! Below are pictures of some beautiful dogs, including forum friends Sophie, Nino, Brisket, Carolina, and Paco, as well as a Chinese Crested who was among the toy dogs participating in the HCA agility trial.

I'll write about Shama's National debut in a separate thread.
