Rules about dogs on floor in hotel

Just FYI

If you are bringing a dog to the Denver show, it is required that boys wear a belly band and girls must wear bitch britches (or a diaper). The Show Chair may revoke this privilege which means that everyone would have to carry or crate (or stroller) their dog, but for now, you can walk them if you have a belly band on the dog. If there are complaints about dogs eliminating on the hotel floor anywhere, it will probably be pulled, so be prepared.

(Edited to add the requirements for bitches.)

By the way, there will be one vendor there selling bitch britches and belly bands, but I don't know that she will bring enough stock to supply everyone who doesn't bring something to the show.

Gee, they could have let everyone know this a bit more ahead of time. I'm not even going but if I were I'd have to order something online and hope it arrived in time.....I can't blame the hotel though. My husband works in one and the things people do would probably shock you. He has stories........

Susan, this is actually better than the rules last year (and maybe the year before?) Dogs weren't even allowed on the floor at all - britches, bands, diapers or anything. They had to be crated or carried.

Oh no~! I didn't see this posted anywhere, I must have missed it! I have the materials here to make Jester a belly band...but I have no Jester! (plus I am NOT the sewing type...KARA HEEEELLLP!) Nothing like waiting until the last minute....grrrrrrrrr I guess I will have to fit it to one of my girls and hope he hasn't grown much. LOL! Off to email his breeder to get Jesters measurements...

It just posted yesterday and I only saw it on the Specialty e-mail list (although I'm pretty far behind on all the other lists right now). You can still carry him like in years past. That part hasn't changed.

Wow sounds pretty strict down there. It would be a great marketing ploy to have some products down there for sale especially for that purpose to capitalize on the need for those items.

When you have hundreds of dogs in one place in a nice hotel and owners who don't care if their dog lifts his leg while they gab, it gets pretty disgusting. Wearing a belly band is much nicer than having to carry your dog in your arms while you are inside.

There have been hotels in past years that told the Havanese people not to come back. They were pretty fancy hotels that normally would not have taken a dog group except for tight times.

Last year the hotel in Richmond was staffed by people who really didn't care. I think it was required for the last three years that no dogs were allowed on the floor (maybe four). Even last year there were lots of problems. I know because it was my job to handle them as Grounds Committee Chairman. Dogs urinated in the elevator. Every night there was poop on the floor in the halls where the rooms were. People did not pick up behind their dogs in the exercise area and there were quite a number of people who walked dogs where they weren't supposed to.

I had heard a lot of the stories from years past but was really surprised with what happened last year.

The lady cleaning rooms put the dirty laundry at the end of the hall in large garbage bags. I saw one of these bags that three dogs had lifted their leg on. Someone had to pick these bags up.

I drove back in the parking lot one night right after 11p.m. and counted eleven people walking dogs somewhere other than the exercise area. Out of these 11 people I saw 0 bags in their hands.

I wondered if this was typical of owners of other breeds.

There are reasons for the rules. A fairly large percentage of these people are really selfish and lazy.
