We have an almost 4 year old spayed female...a sweet primadonna who loves to play a bit more than we do. So, we are considering adopting another puppy as a RLH playmate. I would love some in-put regarding the pros and cons of how it might affect our present girl. Thanks so much!:):)

Welcome to the forum, Nannyfly.

Expect a lot of people to question why you are even questioning a second Hav. If one is so great, 2 must be better. Right?

I have 2 Havs and we love it. A 2nd dog will change the routines and the dynamics. Grooming takes twice as long. Expenses double. On the other hand, you will have a built in playmate. You have to determine if your little girl would prefer to be an only Hav. Do you ever have other dogs into your house? How does your girl respond?

Great questions to consider from Cheryl.

Nannyfly, also keep in mind that a second Hav doesn't always work out perfectly. There have been a couple of people on this forum that have adopted a second and then realized the dynamics were less than ideal and had to return the second. If you are considering a puppy, make sure the breeder does temperament testing and can help you assess the situation giving you some tips in selecting a puppy that does well with an adult. In addition, if you can get them together to meet and play together first, that is even better. Most importantly, make sure you work with someone who will be willing to take the dog back if it doesn't work out!
