How big?

My little girl, Daisy, is 6 months old and weighs 3lbs, 10 ounces. Just wondering if anybody can give me a guesstimate of how much she'll weigh full grown. Thanks.

I can't give you an estimate but am curious what she weighed as a puppy? She certainly sounds petite to me .

She weighed 2.2 pounds when I got her. She eats like a little piggy, so I'm surprised she doesn't weigh more.

Sheba was 6 pounds at that age and now weighs 7.5 pounds at 10 months. Daisy is definitely a little one.

My girl Clementina is 15 lbs (6.8 kg) at just over 6mo. She is very muscular and loves to swim and run. She was just a bit over 4 lbs at 2 mo (1.9kg) Should I start watching her weight? She will be spayed this month.

Part of why sometimes these puppies seem so teeny tiny is because there is a wide variety of healthy Havanese builds. It sounds like she is really active, so if she seems muscular and your vet says she is fit for her build, just keep doing what you’re doing. There is a pretty old thread somewhere with a diagram that shows a healthy “tuck” and view from the top i think.

Mine is sturdy and muscular, too. Others are more delicate. I swear it’s as varied as color with Havanese!

It totally depends on her frame. If she is a large Havanese, she might be perfect weight for her size. If she were one of my girls, she would be obese! LOL! Kodi is on the taller end of the standard, and I don't think he was 15 lbs by 6 months, but he is 18 lbs (and lean) or so as an older adult.

Can you easily feel her ribs? Does she have a "tuck up" behind her ribs? (a "waist"?) If so, she is probably a reasonable weight for her size and I wouldn't worry about it. If you have to prod to feel her ribs, or if she doesn't have a nicely defined waist, she is probably a bit chubby, especially as she is probably also getting to the point where she is starting to slow down in growing.

When you take her in for her spay, I am sure they will weigh her. Talk to the vet about her body condition at that time, and see if they think you should cut her back a little bit on her food.
