Skipping Meals

Sassy is now 17 months old and for the past two weeks occasionally she doesn't want to eat breakfast. She'll go in and sniff the bowl but then walk away. There's nothing wrong with the food, she'll eat the from the same bag later. There is also nothing wrong with her she's active and will eat normally at dinner time. She has also been eating normally up till a couple weeks ago. I have two questions the first is does your Hav do the same? The second is I feed her freeze-dried Primal is it ok to put the dish in the frig and feed it to her later? I hate throwing away the food if it's safe for her to eat later. Thanks for any help on this. I'm just a little concerned.

I can't answer your question about the Primal... i'd ask the company. But I CAN tell you that Pixel misses a meal (typically breakfast) from time to time too. She's fine. I don't worry about it.

Thanks I'll check the Primal web site for the info. I know Sassy won't starve herself but I hate wasting food.

Dont worry so much about this.

Teddy misses breakfast sometimes too. We just leave it out for him to eat later as lunch or dinner (he's a grazer).

He's on a healthy home cooked diet so I don't think its a problem to leave out for him to eat later.

I dont know about primal but it probably would be ok to put in the fridge. I assume its a canned/wet product? Safest to check with the manufacturer.

Thanks for the answers. Primal is a freeze-dried raw dog food. When Sassy doesn't eat breakfast she doesn't get anything until dinner. I checked with the web site and it looks like you can refrigerate and serve later. I was just wondering if other Havs do the same.

Sassy skipped breakfast yesterday and I put it in the frig. When dinnertime came I got it out and let it warm up for about 1/2 hour, I set it down for Sassy she sniffed it and walked away. I put down fresh (from the same bag) and she gobbled that down. So I guess she doesn't like leftovers

Maybe you could mix some of the fresh into the leftovers. Willow gets a premium kibble but she usually won't eat it fresh. I have to let it sit overnight before she'll touch it.
