A gift for a Havanese!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to be going to visit with my breeder this week, and meet her doggy family!

I would like to bring the Mama dog a little gift when I meet her for the first time.

I don't know what she likes, eats or what size clothing she would wear, so something more generic would be great. Im clueless! Please help me to choose something special for her!

I was thinking a small toy, and pretty hair bow?

Thank you !!!

Most brood bitches are pretty preoccupied with their puppies. It's unlikely that she will have much interest in toys at this time. And I'm SURE she won't appreciate a bow. Those are for owners, not dogs. and you're right, your breeder probably has her dogs on a very specific diet, and won't need/appreciate other food. (Even though she might be too polite to say so). Very few serious dog people/breeders put clothes on their dogs either... The dogs really don't like them much! Why don't you bring a nice bottle of wine or a fruit basket for your breeder instead. i'm sure that would be more appreciated!

I sent a doggie gift basket of natural dog biscuits to the mother dog when the litter was born and I brought a toy for the breeder's other dogs in a cute bag with a Havanese picture on it when I went to pick up our puppy. The breeder was very appreciative. We have friends who are breeders and they told me that they often get breed themed presents from new puppy owners such as bags or mugs or ornaments with the breed featured.

Thank you all! She is not even expecting yet. LOL I am just going to meet the owner, and her dogs. Introduce ourselves so we get to know each other. I just wanted to bring a little something for the mama dog. I thought that would be a nice gesture. Unfortunately I don't have time to order anything, that little bag is adorable! Thanks for your suggestions!

Then get something for ALL the dogs... not just one. Bringing something for just one dog becomes, <ehem> a "bone of contention"! A bag of nice organic dog cookies or something like that will be enjoyed by all!

I felt guilty about taking Henry from his dog/mother.
I brought her a rubber fish dog toy.

I didn't feel guilty. Razzle was HAPPY to see those little trouble makers go! . I don't think Pixel's mother missed her either.

How about making some homemade doggy treats for the dogs and some cookies for the breeder? If time allows.
