WHAT KIND OF ONESIES?

Rosie is going to get spayed and you all keep talking about the onsies. Are they pet shop ones or regular baby ones. What about the tail and going to potty? If regular ones do you take the scissors to them or what? Help an old lady out here.

I never used a onsie but I'm sure someone who did will post here. I believe they used premie baby ones. However, they may cause some matting.
Recently when Gabby was spayed I put a piece of gauze on the stitches and wrapped one of those stretchy band thingys they use when you get a blood test around her middle. That seemed to be working well until I noticed that it was causing a little matting too.
So, off it came and I just did what I did with the other two. I just kept a very close watch on them and when they started to lick I said NO. It only took a couple days and they stopped trying. BUT, that only works if you have the time to keep close eye on them.
Good luck!!

I used normal baby onsies.
If you put them on backwards thair tail fits between the snaps and so there's no need to cut a tail hole
Todd was about 10 lbs when he was neutered and fit into a 9-12 month size.

Tori's small, so I used a 0-3 mo. size for her (she weighed about 6 lbs. when she was spayed) I left it unsnapped when I was with her (having it snapped seemed to bother her a bit) She didn't have any stitches, her dr. used "glue". As a result, she wasn't too bothered by her incision after the 1st day/night, so I took it off her to avoid matting.

Here's a pic of the poor little thing.

Here is Luci. She was spayed at 6 mos. - about 7#. This is an 18 mos. size - plenty roomy but it worked fine. I wish I had thought of putting it on backwards but she did not mind her tail being down. (Probably because she was kind of dragging her tail at that point anyhow . I just unsnapped it and rolled it up on her back for potty trips. It worked great and the idea came from the forum. I never would have thought of it!

I just had a dog spayed today, and right now she is resting in her crate, wearing a dog t-shirt we got from Petco. It is just long enough to cover her stitches. So far she hasn't messed with them at all. I will put the blow-up collar that I have on her tonite while she is sleeping and I can't watch her.
