Lurcher(AKA Cash the rabbit hunter)Strikes Again

I come home from work, happy to see my happy to see me boys, and go to let them outside. Cash gently drops Squirrel for me because he knows Squirrel is not allowed outside. (Cash always brings Squirrel along to greet people at the door.) It's dark out but they are RLHing and all of a sudden Jasper gets a scent. Cash perks up...and starts going after something...I hear squeals...I think it is cat...then I hear squaks and I think it is some birds... At this point Jasper runs inside (it wasn't me mommy.) But Cash will not come out from under the bushes...I see a flash of white, is that Cash's feet or something else? I then see him carrying a rabbit in his mouth and the rabbit is squealing. I am frustrated because I can't get to him...but I see him dropping him and waiting and picking him up again... I decide to go in for a flash light, I come back and Cash drops the baby rabbit by the side of the house... Baby? why are there babies this time of year? so I see my chance, the baby rabbit is petrified but I shoo Cash with the flashlight, which scares the baby rabbit even more....but I manage to grab Cash's collar and take him inside... when I went back out the baby was gone.

Just like last time not sure whether to mad or proud... he is just doing what dogs do... but still, I washed his mouth out with Petz Life spray.

So here is portrait of a Lurcher Dog and Cash with his stuffed squirrel don't they look alike:

I know it wasn't funny to you Missy.......but well......that's funny! I like the part where you washed his mouth out with Petz Life!

He does resemble the picture.....that is unreal....Were you really confident it wasn't a raccoon or something? Sometimes they can be kinda scary, like an Opossum. If it happens again be sure to use your flash light really well before reaching in....something could bite you and that'd be awful!

Awww, sweet Cash? Are you sure? ... (Really, I know how you feel, because my cat will occasionally bring in a rabbit that I have to rescue.)

The Lurcher really does resemble your Cash boy!

I really was not sure what it was Julie! that's why I went back in for a flashlight and then thought for a moment to call DH who was on the way home...but then I thought about all the diseases he could get if he actually killed what ever it was. But when Cash ran by I knew immediately it was a rabbit.

Last time I was not sure, but this time I was pretty sure he kept dropping it trying to get it to play. And perhaps even the last time when he let me get to it...I think maybe he was waiting for me to throw it like I do his toys. True or not at least that makes me feel better.

Missy, I would have freaked out if I saw Marble with a bunny in his mouth. Glad the bunny was safe. I'm sure they think they're just playing with little stuffed toys (that move), and they don't get that they will hurt them. We have a pet rabbit, and I won't let Marble near because he has tried to lunge at her and bite her. What an exciting night you had

Hey Question about this...do I have to worry about Cash picking up any diseases from playing with a live rabbit? from what I could see, there was no blood. But boy did I check for fleas last night. DH (who was really proud of his little hunter) thought I was punishing him for just being a dog. Of course I was just trying to protect us from getting a flea infestation. Thank you FRONTLINE! (and I don't mean where I work)

Oh yes. Thank goodness for flea protection!! Yikes ! Glad to hear the bunny managed to escape and Cash isn't hurt in any way. What a guy!
