I just wanted to introduce myself to you. My name is Maria and I am a busy wife & mom of 4 (tripletts and one older). I am also proudly owned by 2 dobermans and a crazy cat.
You're probably asking yourself why is this woman with dobermans on a Havanese site? So let me answer that for you
My mom who will be 79 this year recently lost her pit mix to cancer, she had a nasal tumor and leukemia. My mom was very upset and very lonely. She wanted some time to herself, so I waited a couple of weeks and surprised her with a 4 yr old male Havanese. I got him from a family friend who use to breed & show her dogs. However she has stopped doing that and is now focusing on rescue and training. She very generously gave me Sydney for my mother. He is a beautiful 4 yr old who is 5 points (I think) away from his ch. The only thing she asked is that my mom get him neutered and his teeth cleaned.
So we brought him to my mom and at first she didn't want him.....too afraid to open herself up again for future heartache. But, the kids convinced her to give him a try.
She's had him now for 2 weeks and things are fantastic. She has really bonded to him and he has really bonded to her. He has become a great companion for her, and she has become his best friend.
In looking for just the right dog for her it also had to be able to fit into our lives. He had to be good with kids (who have been taught how to behave with animals) and be able to get along with my big dogs. Luckily for us he fits the bill. He even had a dobe at his previous home and loved to run with him.
So here I am a woman with dobermans on a Havanese site, ready to learn all about your favorite breed. I will have many questions for you as I am used to the big guys and not sure of the requirements of small dogs. Please bear with me as I am new to your world
Thanks for taking the time to read this long post,
