I give up!

On Chico's coat, that is. I had him shaved down at the beginning of summer as he was matting so badly. His coat is getting longer and looking nice but the work it takes isn't worth it.I spend at lest ten hours a week brushing and dematting and he still has matts. His coat is very thick and bushy. When I met Tucker, Metchosins dog I could have died of envy. Sleek and silky, the opposite of Chico's. So he is at the groomers right now having his body shaved. His ears tail and face will still be long. This way we will have more time for fun.

Hobbes has a very curly wooly coat and no matter I have him in a puppy cut and it's really easy now. He has to go every 6 weeks.

Pixie has the same thick wooly coat that constantly mats. I've been hand scissoring it to about two inches (don't like the clippers-the hair is soo thick it they won't go through in some spots), which makes it easier to keep mats at bay. Some neezers do have that single silky coat, not ours it seems though. It's exhausting for sure.

Here's Metchosin (Sharon) responding.
Chico has the thickest hair and it is very soft. What a sweetie!!!
I can't believe how different Havanese can be. My Tucker's hair is very thin in comparison. I have no idea what Tucker'd look like with a short 'do', but it would not fluff out nicely like Chico's hair does.
So, I'm just posting here because Chico looked fab with his short hair when we met a week or so ago. I don't think the haircut would make a whit of a difference in how cute he is, and, for me, the thing is that they still look like a Havanese. Chico definitely does.

It sounds like Milo has the same kind of coat as your Chico! I have lots of time as I don't work right now...well I do a little....so I don't mind the grooming. It is very frustrating though to spend 2 hours bathing and brushing and drying to only find mats and dirt the next day! I have started brushing him twice a day now! Anyway, no matter what a neezer is a cutie! Short coat or long!

Scooter is very curly and when his hair gets longer he looks like he has an afro, very poodlish! LOL It's so hard to brush that I usually just keep it short because brushing the mats out hurts so much. He really looks cute in a short cut so that's how he'll stay!
