Question Chewing pee pads!

How do I get my pup to stop chewing his peepee pads??

We're training him to go on peepee pads, and he will, but the minute he sees me put it down or we leave him alone with it, it is shredded into million pieces!

Did you have this problem and what did you do about it? Thanks for any advice!

You can either get a holder for the pee pads or buy washable pee pads that are made of cloth so he can't tear them up.

My Beamer also used to do that when he was a puppy. He grew out if it pretty quickly though. How old is your pup again?

I went with Wizdog. Same item is Ugodog. They both have websites. It is a grated holder for the pee pad. Lola uses it faithfully. Although she long ago grew out of the shredding pee pad stage, we still use the Wizdog.

Galen our 10 month old will have a great time with her pee pads. She is getting better, but most of them loose a corner or so before they get used and are tossed.

Thanks for all of your replies!
I will definitely look into the pee pad holders. Although I think at this stage he'll pretty much chew anything and everything! Yogi is not quite 4 months yet so hopefully he'll realize that chewing pads that were just peed on is kinda gross

It's really great to have this forum to get 'real' advice ... I read some books on raising puppies but they never have the answers to questions I have.

Sanya,

Ohh.. Yogi is just 16 months old? haha.. Ok, well... maybe a couple more months of pee pad rampage? lol

You know, every now and then Beamer will go crazy on the pee pads jsut for the fun of it. lol (he rarely uses them anymore, we just have them out incase he feels like going..)

You can spray them with bitter apple. doesn't keep them from using them just chewing them

I came home once (no make that twice) when Cash was 4 months to completely pulverized peepads all over the sunroom and kitchen...my boys (and everything else) was covered in a fine white dust of pee pad. Looked like they had a pillow fight. How could I be mad when I was laughing so hard?
