Housebreaking question

I read that for a 3 month old puppy, they need to go outside to the bathroom every 3 hours. That includes the middle of the night too I assume, right? Or do you just use the puppy pad in the xpen for the night? That sounds better for our sleep but I don't want to confuse them!

We set up a baby monitor for our pup in the first few weeks because she sleeps downstairs from us. During the first weeks she squeaked for us and we took her potty in the middle of the night but by 12 weeks she could easily last from 10pm to 6am without a fuss. In the day she goes every hour or two.

I can handle that for a few weeks - thanks for all your help!

Middle of the night potty breaks shouldn't last too long, if at all. Never wake a sleeping puppy to go out. They will tell you if they need to go during the night. If you are using an indoor option hopefully they will use that. During the day, if you are home, it seemed like we were going out every hour. Also any time the puppy changes activities. This would be when they wake up, finish eating and drinking, after playtime, etc. Gradually the time between potty trips can get longer and longer and you have potty training success!
