Vinegar does so much

I often am asked or see questions posted here about keeping flea's off our dogs, cleaning our carpets to rid the odor our dogs can create and more. Here is a starting list of how White Vinegar and another link for Apple Cider Vinegar can help with so many everyday health, cleaning needs and more.

I love vinegar. I use it more and more, as I get older.
I replaced my fabric softener with vinegar in my front load washing machine.
I even clean our hot tub filters with it. It removes all the residues that build up on the filters.
And of course, it works great to de-scale the coffee maker.
And it's so inexpensive!!

I thought vinegar was a no-no for pee or poop spots because of its similarity in odor to urine.

I second what Mojo's Mom said...it smells too similar to urine to use in cleaning up accidents.

Oh I love cleaning with vinegar too! The cost of cleaning solutions is crazy and most of them are loaded with toxic junk.

The flu people tell us to disinfect surfaces, and Clorox tells us to use bleach. No thank you! Use this non-toxic recipe to clean toys, counters, hard surfaces (except wood) - 1 spray bottle with white vinegar, followed by a spray bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Cover surfaces with both, and wipe clean. That's all you need to disinfect. And remember to nuke the sponges in the microwave.

Actually it is not vinegar that smells like urine, but ammonia. Vinegar is one of the recommended cleaners to help clean up pet urine. Ammonia should never be used to clean up pet stains due to the odor similarity to pet urine.

Vinegar is also great in the rinse dispenser of the dishwasher rather than Jet Dry or other rinse formulas. Really cheap, makes the dishes sparkle and no residual odor either.

My 95 year old father-in-law drinks 1 1/2 ounces of vinegar everyday, and he is healthy as can be. I'm not saying he owes his health to this but I figure what the heck I'll drink some vinegar everyday too.

In a glass jug/bottle, I mix 1 part raw honey to 2 parts Bragg's Apple cider vinegar. I store it in the refrigerator. Each morning I drink a shot glass of the mixture. I swig it down like whiskey. It's not that bad, I'm getting used to it.

Oooh...Dorothy...great idea on the dishwasher rinse aid! Jet dry is SO toxic, but I have to use it, or dishes don't come clean. I'm gonna try vinegar next time.
