Question ? about switching dog food?

I know that when switching brands you do a slow decrease of the old and increase of the new but does the same "rule" apply if you want to switch the flavor.I use Merrick Puppy plate and Duncan loves it,but if I wanted to offer him another flavor Merrick makes do I have to switch slowly???
THanks!

Well,

I never switched *properly*. I was shocked from the dog food recall and just outright switched from Iams to Purina Pro Plan and last week I went straight to Fromm's.

I'm feeding her two different flavors from Fromm's. The Chicken ala Veg and the Whitefish. I alternate and she is doing fine. No problems at all.

I'm not saying that integrating new food isnt' the right way, but feeding her two varieties from the same manufacturer hasn't posed a problem for me at all.

Dot, are they both a puppy formula? You can probably just do a one meal switch if they are the same brand, and a same type of formula. You'll know you shouldn't have if you have to clean up runny poops.

(That's not very helpful, is it? )

If you're really worried, just do half and half for one meal and go straight to the other flavor the next meal.

I have to check if they are puppy formulas--but if they are I wouldn't think there would be a problem.Thank goodness Duncan will eat whatever he can get his mouth onto.LOL!!He's such a hungry puppy so I would like him to have a variety in his diet.I know,I must sound silly but I am simply in love with this dog!!!!

Gee Dot I wonder why you are so in love-- I agree that they should be ok if it is the same brand and both puppy formulas. I am so lucky that my guys eat anything as well, including things they shouldnt
