Beamers poop

Ok, We have not had a real good poop thread in a while.. soooooooo....

Beamer has had diarrhea for the past couple of days, and todays seemed to be the worst. It seemed to be covered in a skin of some sort. Does this sound like Guardia?

This is the first time Beamer has EVER had runny poop in the last 2 years while on raw.. So I was pretty surprised to see this..

Anyone?

Ryan

Not much help from here about Guardia, but Smarty is on raw and she has had a couple of days of softer stools with a mucus type film and it had a pretty bad smell. Hers was self correcting as it was gone in a couple of days.

We hope it is nothing serious, give Beamer a hug.

you're going to have to go with the boiled chicken and rice.
feel better Beamer.

glad to see a poop thread because it seems to be the center of my life for now..
j.j. ate "something" at the dog park 2 1/2 weeks ago and i had a gut feeling i we were going to pay for it..
and boy did we..
j.j.'s mood was not altered and you wouldn't have had a clue watching him play that there was a problem... drinking water wasn't a problem... and even the boiled chicken and rice diet wasn't helping so off to the vet. he was put in immodium and iams probiotics and life got better.
however, we are having some, not all, soft stools and now i am sooo paranoid!!
so i have him on animal essentials plant enzymes and probiotcis... so hope this works.
his stool cultures came back negative for giardia, but from what i understand, it can take more than one testing to get it... so keeping my fingers crossed.. otherwise back to square one. first time i have had a dog with these issues.. are havanese a little more sensative in the gut???

I know Tucker is sure more sensitive in the digestive system. It's a never quite out of the woods saga here. Better....oops, there he goes again....better...

Did Beamer have any chew treats or had a larger portion of his yummy meal? I notice that whenever Benji and Lizzie have Merrick's flossies (that's the only chew treats they get) they tend to have mucus type film around the poop. They tend to have soft stool for 12 hours after chewing on flossies but it gets back to normal stool soon there after.

When Benji and Lizzie had girardia, they did have mucus in the stool but stool was very loose and they needed to go potty 4-5 times a day. It doesn't get better if not treated.

Hope Beamer feels better soon.

Best, Poornima

Kodi has soft stools any time I feed him anything with beef in it... including flossies. As long as I stick to chicken, turkey or lamb, he has no problem.

Thanks for the poop thread Ryan. You are right it has been a long time. If it continues I would certainly have it tested. especially since it has been a few years w/out looseness, and you don't recall any new or unusual treats. The mucas type film (with a bad smell) also could be him the Beamster expressing his anal glands...

let us know. feel better Beamer!
