We had our first snow of the season early this morning. It's been getting colder (down to the mid 20's at the coldest) and I'm getting worried that Baci may need a coat.

We live just north of Atlanta and overall it's been an extremely mild winter, and those low temps don't stay low for more than a few hours. Baci doesn't seem to mind the cold at all, either. But I'm afraid the real cold is coming soon.

Should I get a coat for Baci? Any recommendations, if so?

Thank you!

I have found the perfect dog. Baci: 4/30/2015

I think a coat would be in order at those temperatures if you plan to have Baci outside for anything other than a quick potty trip. Molly needs a coat as she is only 6 lbs. and in a puppy cut. She does get cold, especially when she doesn't go immediately upon bringing her outside. We have several winter parkas. The only recommendation I have would be to look at the style of the coat as to how you get it on and off. All of our coats close with a velcro strip on the chest. It works out ok for us but I don't know how it would be for a dog with a full coat. I would worry about the hair getting caught in the velcro.

I got a Hurtta coat for Willow and it works really well and seems warm. Here is the Amazon link for you to look at.

I got the size 12 for Willow but she is really small - only 6.5 lbs. Different sizes and different colors have different pricing. The coat is easy to put on, plus there is lots of room to for adjustments if it's a little too big. Plus it covers most of the belly. Seems to be waterproof too.

Mine wear coats when it's cold, except for quick potty runs. They even wear them in the car, because the car is cold when we first get in, and there are no vents in the hatch area where their crates are. It eventually warms up back there, but not quickly.

Panda is wearing coats that were given to us by a friend who lost her small Papillon in the spring. They are a little big for her now, but they will fit her for the rest of the season. Pixel wears the same ones (there are lots... this was a VERY well dressed Papillon!) and I think she's finished growing. So she can wear them going forward.

We slip this coat on our Ruby when it is raining or snowing. Otherwise I think that she likes the cold and seems to fluff up her fur to create her own insulation. Our Cairn Terrier is always asking to come back inside before Ruby is done romping in the snow.

The coat is super easy to get on and off for potty trips and dries fast.
