Switching from pee-pads to Ugodog?

Petunia just made one year old last week. She is bell trained and pee pad trained. Lately she has been using the pee-pad and then ringing the bell to go outside, so I have been using lots of expensive pee-pads. She just don't get the concept of going outside first and using pee-pads as the second choice. Also, she has a bad habit of peeing on the edge of the pad and therefore missing it sometimes.
I've been reading about Ugodog and used the search on this forum but I can't seem to find out if switching from pee-pads to Ugodog will be a easy transaction for Petunia to make.
Bottom line is I need to find an alternative to using pee-pads, they are way to expensive.
Do any of you have experience with switching from pads to Ugodog ?
As always you responses are greatly appreciated.

Petunia is such a cutie! While training Tucker to go outside we used washable pee-pads. They are expensive to begin with, but money saving in the long run. He's been going outside for 3 months now (he's 7 1/2 mos.) with no accidents inside. But we still keep a pee-pad out for him. I haven't had any experience with Ugodog. Best of luck with Petunia's training.

Santos used a pee pad when he was still with his breeder, and we got him when he was 20 weeks old. I bought the Ugodog, and he uses it faithfully. He had no problem at all with the switch.

We are nearing the end of Jonah and Riley's transition from pee-pads to Wizdog (which I think is nearly the same as Ugodog). I started by putting a pad with a little pee under the grate, then two more pads under the ends of the grate and hanging out on each end, so they had plenty of pad to hit. Gradually I have left less and less hanging over the ends and they are doing great. I learned that I could not shrink the space too quickly though, it has taken about six weeks to get to this point.

With regard to going outside as first choice, I found I had to revert for awhile to taking them out regularly, like every two hours, specifically to go potty in order to minimize the use of pee pads for their convenience. My California boys still aren't that impressed with our rainy Seattle daysLOL.

I don't think you should have trouble transitioning to Ugodog if you keep a dab of her own pee from the previous pad on the new one you put down each time.

By the way, she is adorable and looks so much like my Jonah!

We miss you Murph.
