Hi All. Well I guess My Wife and I pretty Much Knew this would happen. We're getting MHS big time now. Radar is the biggest whiner you will ever meet. He whines even when he can see us and he's in the ex-pen. Radar is a sweetheart and a very loving sweet pup and the thought of two running around the house really tempts me. We've always said that the possibility of getting another Hav was high and we would really want another playmate for Radar to pass the time when my wife goes back to work. We're thinking about a female but we really don't want any funny business when we're out of the house. He won't be fixed yet and if we were to get a female and I don't want ANY accidental Hav "hanky panky" going on if U get my drift.... Not sure if maybe another male might be in order. We can probably wait until we get him neutered which would be the best thing to do I think. My Wife really wants a little girl but I might have to explain to her that we can't afford the penalty if he knocks her up.....
You are too funny!! If you got a baby now, I would assume that when you are not supervising she would be in a crate or pen by herself so by the time she is ready to be in the "regular" population maybe Radar will be fixed. I dont think that it would happen if you get a little girl, I dont think she would go into heat before he was neutered, you should check that out as I would hate for that to be the reason you dont give in to MHS!!!!
Well I think I'm plenty funny sometimes..thanks Yeah I would really love to get another one as would My Wife. We just love our little guy and it's given us a great thing to do together..taking care of a family companion and family member. A good idea with the thought of her being in the Ex-Pen when she can't be watched during the day and having Radar either beside her of to have the two of them in connected Ex-Pens with the doors separating the two of them is great. I would have to get my Mother who is five minutes away to come over and play and feed the two of them. By then Radar may be on a two feedings per day Schedule by then, who know's but I think It could work. Another way would be for me to change schedules at work (four days on, four days off-Nights). I would go in at 8.p.m., until 6 a.m. and still be home during the day. Four Ten Hour Shifts and then Off for four days. I Liiiiike It....
Well you are corresponding with the wrong person if you are undecided in any way. I am a true MHS sufferer and have been accused of being very BAD for trying to convince everyone to get more Havs!! I am sure that Radar would LOVE a baby sister!!!!
Well I thought it would have been My Wife that would have been the MHS sufferer but I am the one who is worse this time I think. I can't help it I really want another one soo bad.... I really hope we can get another one soon but I must keep my head about me when we do this. It must be done right so we don't rush ourselves and make an error.
Great advice, Paige. I agree that getting #2 once #1 is at least 6 months old is a little less stressful. Ricky was 8 months old when we got Sammy, who is only 2 weeks younger than him, but if it had been a baby, a 10 wk. old pup for instance, then I think I would have waited until Ricky was a bit older, maybe 10-12 months old. That's just me though. I dont' have the physical ability to care for two babies at once! lol
Hello. My name is marj and I have MHS.

Yeah I would have to agree with what the suggestions are so far. We really must watch the cost factor as well. It would be better to get another at a later time and six months sounds reasonable. I worry that when my wife goes back to work we will have a hard time with Radar in the day time. I might just have to switch to night shift so that I can watch him during the day. Maybe have the ex-pen in the bedroom when I'm in there during the day. I definitely will have my mother come over and feed and play with him during the day when We're at work. It'll make it so much easier.
It def. would be easier for you if you got the second after he is months. I cannot imagine how it would be to be potty training two dogs at once. I did wait for each of mine. These months would be the perfect time to research breeders, get the word out to them (or the one you got Radar from) that you are interested in a new one in about 6-8 months.
