Dirty mouth

It kills me to look at Petunia and see her little face all stained. If you notice in the pictures of her as a puppy, she looks so white and clean around her mouth and the picture of her now at 13 months shows the ugly staining.

Petunia is 13 months old and the staining around the mouth is getting worse. I try to keep her mouth dry, but she still gets the bad staining. It really takes away from her appearance and it's impossible to get a nice picture of her without your eyes being focused right on her stained mouth.

Petunia only drinks drinks filtered water from a ceramic bowl, I don't use plastic or faucet water.

I remember reading here on the forum that some of you use "hamster or parrot bottles" for your havs to drink from. I'm willing to try that type of bottle, I could hang it on the wall where her water and food bowls are located.

I'm wondering if any of you have made the switch from a water bowl to a water bottle?

Suggestions are advice are appreciated. Thank You!

The breeder started Panda with a water bottle and we're continuing it. What I didn't know though is there are different sizes of balls in the discharge tube. I inadvertantly bouth a bottle with a smaller ball (for a hamster) and it frustrated Panda because she couldn't get a sufficient flow of water quick enough. Since I've just figured out what the problem is - I haven't been back to the pet store to buy another bottle so she's been drinking from a bowl for the last week or so and I can already notice some staining on her beard so the pet store is a stop on my list today!

I think the water bottle helps but it could also be from food? Belle has horrible staining from allergies and Dora has some too but I also think she gets some face staining from sniffing around outside all the time in the wet grass.

I just showed my Havanese it by hitting the ball. I had a foster dog that got it just by seeing the others as soon as it arrived. The maltese was stubborn about it and I had to remove the water bowl and let her get thirsty. Now, I dont use a bowl. The best part is the water doesn't get dirty.

Thinking of adding a Neezer, check out this thread!

I'm going to switch Petunia from eating Solid Gold to Natural Balance Ultra Premium small bites and see if that helps with the staining. I will also take her Flossie away and stop the brand of her current treats (Dragon Teeth) and limit her to just a few of the Wellness Pure Rewards treats. She is not going to be happy about the Flossie.
I'm relentless with cleaning and drying her face, so I will continue doing that.
While at the pet store I looked for a lick type water bottle and all I could find was plastic bottles, everything I read tells me not to use plastic, so I didn't buy it.
Hope I see results.
Thanks for the advice.

Cali's face is starting to get stains. She's 2 years old.
We give her filtered water in a water bottle.
I recently switched her food to Innova from Taste of the Wild and I'm wondering if Innova caused the staining. She ate Innova as a puppy so I don't know how that could happen (no face staining as a puppy).I'm going to switch dog foods again and will probably give hr Taste of the Wild again.

I hate the rusty stains around her mouth.
I'm not much of a photographer, so I don't have a recent pic.
Is there something I can do cosmetically to get rid of the rust stains?
Peroxide or something????

Pixie's face gets grungy from the water bowl, eating, whatever. I'm constantly wiping it. I guess that just comes with the territory when you have a white dog.

Piper had very bad staining around her eyes and mouth. I tried everything with very little results. I finally broke down and tried Angel Eyes and it completely cleared up both eyes and mouth within 2 weeks. I know a lot of people don't want to use it because it's an antibiotic but the red goop around her eyes was a constant problem. It really worked and I have not had any problems since.
