Dogs in bed? You must be joking.

So, I thought it was a perfect plan to let Moxie spend the night in the bed for a birthday treat with DH out of town. He has been strict about not allowing that. Anyway, while it was very cozy at first, toward morning I did not welcome all that movement, scratching, tunneling and general commotion. Made me wonder how you people do it?? Yoohoo, all you multiple owners who allow this?? Not to mention... the difficulty of a (ahem) private moment with your bedmate? Hmmm...maybe next year on his third birthday! I take my sleep WAY too serious for this

hmmm, Murray is a gentleman in our bed. He finds the perfect spot and snuggles in and that is it. If he gets restless, he jumps out of bed and goes to lay on his bed in the corner of the room. If he wakes me up, I know it means he needs out.

As for the other part, well that is what doors are for.

I do have to agree. It was like going back to having my DD in bed with me as a baby. I was worried I'd crush is legs or push him off my very tall bed. He kept changing his mind from foot of the bed to side of the bed it was crazy. I think he was happier when I took him to his own bed as well.

We started bringing Rascal and Pixie into bed with us after we had them about 6 weeks, and once we knew they slept through the night without needing to go outside. They generally just snuggle into their spots and go to sleep. Mind you, we used to have a double bed, but we recently bought a king-size, which makes a huge difference (literally!). We love having them in bed with us - we have such nice, cuddly wake-ups. And as for the other part, ahem, as Sally says, doors are good!

We swing both ways...LOL. Although Cash is usually a perfect gentlemen in bed...settles in and doesn't move, sometimes the bed just isn't big enough for the three of us. (Jasper loves his crate and at 10pm he is ready to retreat to it) In which case we put him in his bed... The unfortunate thing is he sleeps later in our bed, so if he is in his bed at the first hint of daylight we hear whhaa, whaaaa, whaaaa, which translates into pick me up there, we do and he then sleeps as long as we do. As for the other...that's what bully sticks are for (and doors.)

Ahh you're right Debra, it's not every one's cup of tea. Molly sleeps with us,and we have no problems. She snuggles for about ten minutes and then she goes to the foot of the bed. She likes my side because I don't move too much when sleeping. My wife is a different story. Yeah ,I wish we would have a king size bed but oh well. Love the kisses in the morning, though ,except it means she has to go outside. The only thing to watch is that they don't guard the bed but that is easily remedied if you start when they are young. Yeah it's not everyone's wish to have a threesome. LOL

I swore I would never have a dog in bed, but on a rainy night in Virginia, 4 month old Smarty got to sleep with me and she has been there ever since. I’m like Dave’s wife and roll around like a marble in bed, sometimes I have to force Smarty to move over as she likes to be in the middle and is on the covers. She will not go under the covers, but she does want a pillow. Galen does not sleep in our bed, she is too little to get on and off, but the real reasons are she sheds and I do not trust her not to pee on the bed.

All three of mine sleep in the bed-or at least part of the night. Miss Paige sleeps at the bottom unless she decides she wants the middle-Ms Frannie sleeps up by the pillow-and kicks you with her back feet if you "move into her space". Rommy sleeps on his crate-I have two BIG crates set up beside the bed-I have a sheet on top of them then two comforters-that is Rommy Man's bed till very early in the morning-at that time he comes over & sleeps beside me with his back to my back. As far as "private time" when hubby stays over on the weekends-then the door is used.

I could not sleep without the "kids" in bed with me. I know I check on them through the night but sleep much better with them in bed than somewhere else. And that way I can make sure Frannie gets out a few times during the night.
