It isn't unusual to find a lump after they get their shots, sometimes days or weeks later. But, I'd think it wouldn't hurt to have it checked... A quarter size is pretty big, and you'd just want to make sure.

Chloe had a reaction the the rabies shot that after a week that was the size of a golfball. It took about a month to go away. The vet mentioned it when she was spayed. Apparently it is really common and if related to the shot is nothing to be alarmed about. I'd call the vet to check.

I believe this is really common after vaccinations. I bet everything is just fine and the lump will go away...it just takes time.

also, could it be where his Microchip is? glad you are getting it checked out though. Like your boy's name just guessing, but I bet he is a black pup too.

The microchip shouldn't leave a lump - at least not that large. Maybe the size of a large grain of rice if the dog has a little fat, but not the size of a quarter.

Several Havanese have had a lump, especially after the Rabies vaccine is given. Did you wait 2-3 weeks after other vaccines before giving Rabies? That helps observation of reactions and doesn't tax the dog's system.

It's always a good idea to have your veterinarian look over a lump. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind if he or she tells you exactly what it is.

Let us know what the vet says. I've never had a lump from a shot but many others have.

Thank you all, the breeder says not to worry, keep a watch, sometimes they may lose hair if so there are Meds for that. We waited 4 weeks between shots. Cash is black & white, mostly black. He took all our Cash!!!! Will phone Vet thought.

Sorry, breeder says, it most likely was the Rabies shot.
