Question Grooming

Ok so Coco is 13 weeks and is in need of her first grooming.... but I am not sure how old she needs to be to take her the first time. She is starting to look like a wooly mammoth....

We need wooly mammoth photos!!

is her hair covering her eyes yet? I wanted to show Sophie in the puppy classes in the breed ring so couldn't trim her bangs until after that. I couldn't WAIT to get that hair out of her eyes! But by the time we were done in the ring, she was 7 months old. I had her trimmed the day after the last dog show.

I have a breeder friend who has the PERFECT arrangement! One of her dogs chews the bangs off the others. So they are all short enough to see under, but don't look cut. Somehow, she manages to be able to keep them back for the show ring!

I think most people take their puppy to the groomer for the first time after they have completed their puppy vaccines. If you plan on using a groomer it is important to start them young so they get used to it. Molly's first time there was for a bath, nail trim, sanitary trim and a scissor trim of her paws and face.

LOL about the puppy trimming the others hair, and cheaper than a groomer!

The first time I took Zoe I told the groomer to just do what he would be able to do without stressing her. I think she must have been about 12 weeks. He was actually able to do more than I thought.

My groomer recommends that puppies start after their second round of shots to get used to the salon and grooming process.
