We are looking into changing Tuckers also. Vet recommended Hill's SD puppy (surprise) but after some reading we are not impressed with the junk that's in it. He loves it and eats it like crazy but there has to be something better out there. Looking for a high quality dry puppy kibble.

Thanks everyone!

Right now I am leaning toward a few, but was wondering if a certain type/brand agrees more with Havanese pups...

I have done a lot of research and read over the dog food advisor site...

Wellness Core--Puppy formula

Orijen--Puppy formula

Natures Variery--puppy formula

Merrick--puppy formula

Natural Balance--puppy formula

anyone have any experience with these brands?

Well that's no help.....

Just got to pick what you think is best and go with it. If pup doesn't like it change to another. I just didn't like all the fat and carb content of the SD puppy brand.

Molly is currently on Natures Variety and she loves it. I add freeze dried raw to the kibble and moisten it with water. FYI - There are many good dog food brands that don't have a specific "puppy" formula. They are good for dogs of all ages and would be fine to feed your puppy too.

Cassie's breeder gave her a blend of three different kibbles...Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea, Natural Balance Original Ultra (small breed bites), Natural Balance Chicken and Sweet Potato (small breed bits) and I decided to stay with them. Nutrisca is a five star on dogfoodadvisor but is harder to find. The other two are in the medium range. She gets couple tablespoons of fresh, refrigerated Freshpet Select, which is another five star. She likes them all (wet food especially) but I know lots of people have to experiment until they find one their particular dog likes and thrives on..
