Spay Day

My little Lola gets spayed today Boo hoo, she's sleeping so innocently right now & I have to wake her up and take her to the vet.

I hope everything goes smoothly. I'm nervous for the recovery part, hope she isn't in too much pain.

Best wishes, Susie.
She may very well be in pain, but be sure to get some pain meds to assist her in her recovery and limit her ability to run & jump while she's feeling good.

Spay and neuter day is always nerve wracking until you get that phone call that all is well. I'll bet Lola does just fine. Do you get to bring her home today or does she have to spend the night?

Good luck. The vet will send home some pain meds for her. I gave them to Stella religiously until they were gone because she had no way to tell me if she was in pain or not. I figured that way she'd for sure have pain relief if she needed it.

Thanks for the good wishes! Lola is home and sleeping. The vet said her surgery went great.....he didn't send me home with pain meds - said she shouldn't need them and he inserted some pain meds into the wound before closing her up.

She has a hard time walking, so I carried her out to potty. She went potty before I brought her in the house and has drank a little water. All good signs I think She seems to have a hard time getting comfy, but isn't shaking or panting. Hopefully she'll sleep through the night.

My next hav will be a boy! Neutering seems so much easier than spaying!

Glad to read Lola made it through fine. Hope she sleeps well tonight and bounces back quickly to 100%

Give her plenty of love. But I don't understand why they didn't send some pain meds home with you. Animals can be tricky- they may not exhibit pain the way humans do, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Thinking in terms of natural selection, it's not beneficial to show discomfort at all. Of course, our Havs are completely genetically engineered by hundreds of years of breeding and have little to do with natural dogs...
I'm looking back on when Phoebe was spayed. Really, this is such a sweet girl, she never complains about anything. I'm not sure how she would tell me if she were in real discomfort. If your baby is not at least acting like nothing happened tomorrow, you might consider calling the vet for meds.
