Can I put Neosporin on Max?

I feel so horrible! For the very first time, I trimmed the hair in the corner of Max's eyes and I accidentally snipped his skin! Can I put a little Neosporin on it? It doesn't seem to be bothering him any.

You sure can, as long as he can't lick it off!

Good! I just feel awful. My first try and I blow it. He didn't even act like it hurt, thank goodness. Those scissors are sharp!

Poor guy! Don't worry, I'm sure he forgives you

I use rounded tip scissors on Roscoe and Maddie...my mom actually found them at the annual fair at home. They look quite similar to this: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/st...l.html?s=G113L

I've been using round nose cuticle sissors on Panda. I was scared to death I'd poke her eye out with a pointed sissor. The cuticles aren't as sharp, but they do the job on her bangs and around her eyes....just a thought.

I don’t know about Neosporin, when in doubt call the vets office.

I keep a tube of Panolog ointment for the dogs. In the past I was instructed to put it directly in the eye of a dog that had an eye lid torn and stitched . We have used it on all kinds of surgical incision to aid in healing. It is good for all kinds of injuries.

I didn't poke his eye or his skin, I clipped his skin! This morning, I woke to find his eye all gunky and stuck together. I washed it gently with a warm wash cloth, but it keeps gunking up. I guess I'll call the vet.

I didn't think you did any thing to the eye, I just know the Panolog is safe to use around the eye.

Neosporin is fine, my vet says we can use that for any sore. I've even used it deep into abscesses on my cats back in the day when I had cats that were allowed outside.
