Dangerous Dog Toy

I just received a warning about a dangerous dog toy from the head of our therapy dog program. For those of you who use toys to stuff food in, it appears that you must make sure there are two holes in the toy. Sadly, this dog had to be put down after having its tongue damaged by the toy. http://skidmarkz.org/bios/scooby2.html

That is so sad. it's not the first case i've read about but it makes you wonder just how safe any of these things are when you're not around to take care of anything that comes up. She has to be devastated.

I've noticed that most of the chew-type toys usually have a warning on the package not to give without supervision. It seems no matter how careful we are sometimes terrible things happen. She was just trying to be a good pet owner and give her dog a toy to keep her from being lonely while she was gone - such a sad story.

That is heartbreaking. I hope they discontinue this toy. Yes they need at least two holes.

Oh, that is so, so sad. Thanks for posting the warning, as we are always buying toys to stuff food in.

If the toy only has one hole a vacuum is created. Like with all rawhyde and chews they should not be left untended with these types of toys.
