Broccoli??

Can your dog eat broccoli? I added a little bit to Rudy's dry food last night and it upset his stomach. He threw up last night and several times today. The only thing different in his diet was the broccoli. I gave him a little bit of cooked broccoli and he has been having an upset stomach all today. He finally kept some water down so I boiled some chicken and gave him a little bit with some white rice about 30 minutes ago. Hope he keeps it down.

Either it was a coincidence, and he was coming down with tummy trouble anyway, or he has an unusual intolerance to broccoli. Most doges not only tolerate it, but LOVE it! It's probably the favorite dog-veggie after baby carrots.

I make extra steamed veggies of what we're having for dinner almost every night, and my dogs love just about everything and never have a problem with them. The only thing none of them like is celery. I'd been told that most dogs don't like it, but figured I'd test it anyway. Nope. My dogs agree with the others. They want no part of celery!!!

As far as broccoli is concerned, though, they love it raw, steamed or ESPECIALLY frozen. Yum! Broccoli popcicles!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that Rudy's not feeling well. I hope he feels better soon.

Emmie's not a big fan of veggies unless they're frozen or a dog friend is eating some, and then she wants what he's having. LOL

My girls weren't all that interested either, until they saw how much Kodi liked them. Now they are as excited as he is when we get done with supper, and they scarf them right down!!!

Gracie loves cooked broccoli, carrots and asparagus and will sometimes eat raw spinach. She always gets a few frozen green beans with her meals. She seems to tolerate all of these veggies well.

Ollie and Hershey get broccoli, carrots, snow peas, peppers and cauliflower as there snacks and they love it. I have never given it to them cooked, always raw. Hershey is pretty funny eating the broccoli though. His little baby teeth kind of shred it into tiny little pieces and I find it all over when he is supposedly done. Ollie cleans it up pretty good though.

They do like the taste of raw veggies, but dogs don't digest raw veggies well. They need them broken down, either by cooking or pureeing, for them to be able to access the nutrients efficiently.

yeah I wouldn't give it to him again . While most people recognize that meats are a source of proteins, there are also proteins present in grains and vegetables. Any one of these proteins has the potential to cause a food allergy

My corgi absolutely loved broccoli but Willow turns her nose up at vegetables and fruits. I used to give the stem end cut up and also the cabbage core cut up to my corgi. She loved most all vegetables except carrots for some reason.
