changes in dog

any of you who have an older hav, i say 3 years and older, did you see a drastic change in their energy as they went from pup to adult? my have has become much more mellow, doesn't play like a crazy man like he use to, sleeps more, i still walk him twice a day and my husband attempts a play session every day we get a few minutes but not as much time as we use to. he's healthy, maybe he's just an adult now and this is what happens?

Yes, I can say that Lily (who turns 4 in July) has slowed a bit as well. She still plays with the others, but seems to quit a lot sooner & watch from the sidelines. She also has taken to going to her crate at 8pm in the bedroom, instead of sleeping in bed with me till hubby comes up. I wonder if she figures, why should I get up in the middle of my sleep, to go into my crate - I might as well just go in now!! In all the reading I have done, I do believe it is normal.

Hi,

My hav is 3 years and 2 months. I noticed he slowed down a bit in the years. He takes naps during the day. When we go for walks, he is very active and energetic. At the dog park, he runs and plays with his doggie friends. As soon as we go home, he takes a nap. Then after awhile he wants to play again. During the weekends I sometime take naps and he joins me. I was told that this is normal, so I am not too worried about it.

Hi, hi, (can't find the smilie that is smiling)
That's the "single" havanese syndrome.
You need to buy a friend for him.

Oh Honey Poney, I see we have another enabler on hand. We here at the forum call it MHS (Multiple Hav Syndrome)

Well Missy,
honeyponeys has a really severe case of MHS, I can tell hihihihihi
She's the best!

but serious, could it really be that if a Hava is alone, that by the age of 4 or something they slow down because they are not pulled into energetic games by the younger other Hava?
Could make sense.........

Suzanne and her Sparkling Sierra, godmother to Dinky (*) and Baileys!

My soon-to-be 5 year old pretty much hangs back and watches the 13 month old and the 2 year old play together. She also prefers to go to bed around 8 pm and if we try to get her to go out to go potty after she is in bed, she is not very happy about it! She will hold it all night until morning! She does enjoy her walks and will occasionally do the RLH, just not as often as when she was younger. She is also in pretty good health, just prefers things a little calmer now
