Travel woes

Chi-Chi was eating kibble when we took her to CA in February. Now she is on FreshPet and we have a road trip to WI this weekend and a plane trip to CA next week. Both trips will be around 6 hours from home to hotel. I'm assuming she can go without food that long. My problem is having no access to a fridge. Even frozen, FreshPet thaws out in about 30 minutes. I suppose for the road trip, we could stop and pick up some when we get there. But for the CA trip, it will be night when we arrive and I don't want to then have to go out in search of a pet store. Any suggestions? Thanks!

When I'm traveling and can't bring Emmie's raw dog food (Darwin's) with me, I feed her ZiwiPeak air-dried dog food instead.

No problem with switching Emmie's food up. But I'd test it out with your Hav BEFORE your trip. I also use ZiwiPeak for training treats and break up the little squares into even smaller bites.

This is a high quality freeze-dried food that can be served dry or mixed with water.

Air/Freeze-dried (are these different processes?) definitely seems like the way to go. I am going to try to stick with the same proteins (chicken, beef, salmon) of the FreshPet she is accustomed to. Hopefully I can get my hands on a bag by early next week.

It sounds like freeze dried and air dried are pretty much the same:

I have kept Cassie a mixture of kibble and FreshPet select for the reason that although I like FreshPet and it is easily available at several grocery stores near home, I worried about what I would do if we were traveling. I mix it up so that she can't just pick out the FreshPet...this way if we are ever without refrigeration, I know she can survive quite nicely on the kibble she normally eats, although she might prefer the wet food! Probably too late for you to adjust now, but wanted to share this approach in case anyone else is pondering one of these refrigerated foods.

Air dried or freeze dried raw food is a better choice than kibble when you're on the road.

Scout and Truffles love ZiwiPeak and they are very picky eaters.
