Xylitol is lethal for our dogs! So awful. I remember how one of our earlier members lost her Hav suddenly, within a couple of days, because unbekownst to her, her dog must have picked up a used piece of gum at the dog park. Horrible, horrible stuff.

Oh my gosh how horrible! Losing your baby to a piece of gum...I can't imagine.

I had heard of something with peanut butter but didn't realize xylitol was the culprit thanks so much for this info

I remember that too... She had no idea what was happening to him at the time. It was horrible. I don't think the danger of xylitol was as well known then as it is now. I freak out if I SEE any sugarless gum in our house... and read EVERY PB jar... even if it's a brand we've bought before. You never know when they are going to change a recipe.
