He won't go out in the rain?

Lucky (now 4 years old) hates the rain. If it's raining at all heavily, he turns into a statue and will not go out. When he was little and seemed comfortable using a piddle pad as an option when not going out in bad weather etc., we had no problems. But now he very rarely will use the piddle pad and simply holds it in all day. What do others do about this? Tonight we went to the gas station so he could use the shelter of the overhang over the tanks...are there any techniques that others who have this challenge employ? Would love to hear. thanks so much.

I put a rain slicker on Molly. If it is raining really hard I hold a large umbrella over her which seems to help.

I built a 16 x 42 foot "dog porch". It has a 2' overhang beyond that, and they will go out there in anything but blowing rain.

Do you have a garage that you could take him out into. With the door open it would give an outdoors feeling.

Have a huge golf umbrella that covers Rocky and me. He goes quickly but he does love the rain.
He'd run around out there if I let him go. The umbrella is only for me!!

Search for 'pet umbrella' on Amazon. They have a couple of products that look interesting. If you try one, report back how it works!

Chloe is reluctant to go out as well, but I have a raincoat for her and I also hold an umbrella up as well if it's a really heavy downpour. But she will hold it for an long as she can, then when given the option to go out again even if it's still raining she will race out and do her business and come back in. Also I pick her up and carry her to a certain spot to try to avoid any unnecessary wetness.

I use the Rascal piddle pad. It has the look and feel of real grass and my two pups use it during the winter and bad weather. They also sell a laundry bag that I put the grass pad in and wash it in washing machine.

I got one of these for my little blind Hallie. We called it the poopatorium. I took it down when I lost her. Sophie doesn't mind the rain and water as much but still doesn't appreciate it when it's cold. I put up the 16 foot long agility tunnel from the back door to the yard so she can at least stay dry until she gets to the lawn.
