Traveling

Teddy DOES NOT like his sherpa bag in the car. In August, we are flying with him. I am concerned how he will do. I have heard stories regarding calming medication. Does anyone have any experience in that regard?

I have nothing to offer regarding air travel but I wish you the best of luck. Get advice from your vet.

I have a rolling backpack

that I take Baci to and from the vet, groomer, etc. he did not like it at first, but has gotten used to it with time. I put a soft blanket in the bottom for comfort and ease of cleaning (he used to vomit each time I'd take him out.). I still "spill" him head first into to bag, gently of course. At first it was necessary so I had time to zip the closure before he could hop out, but as I said before, he has totally acclimated to it now.

Good luck!

Chi Chi flies really well in her Sherpa. I leave it out all the time and as time approaches for a trip I start feeding and treating her in it. She is usually happy to jump in it because she knows she is going somewhere.

I go to a big VCA practice, up to 12 full time vets work there....

None of them have recommended to me calming medication for airline travel for dogs.

You could try something natural. I've heard of calming scents and such.
