need help with belly band

well, we r still having a peeing issue with django, breeder suggested belly band. can someone explain to me how this works. i understand using a pad in the band and putting it across the dogs belly. not to sound too graphic but should his little penis be in the middle of this band or closer to the end? also, will he still pee but it instead of going all over my floor it will be absorbed by the pad? will the sensation of wet pee against his belly stop this behavior? whether it's the meds or habit, i need to stop the peeing on the floor. my concern is that the more he pees, the more he smells no matter how hard i try to sanitize the floor and the more he pees.

I use a belly band on Cody - I try to put the pad near the middle of his penis, otherwise the band tends to get wet also. Yes, Django will still pee with it on, it will just be absorbed by the pad, not your floors. No, it won't discourage him from peeing but it definitely will help your stress level dramatically!

When I was having significant issues with Milo the belly band saved both of us. For the first couple of days he didn't wet the pad and I thought, miraculously it had stopped. Once he got used to the sensation of wearing it the marking continued but my stress level was way down. Before that I was spending a lot of time cursing under my breath (and sometimes out loud) that he was destroying my house. It made it very hard to love him.

He no longer wears it but it saved my sanity and his eardrums.

to be honest, i don't take it out on the dog, yes i'm pissed when i come home for a moment, and i think for me, i know part of it is the predison so i know he just can't hold it but, i am concerned since it has been going on for 2 months that it's also habit. i came home today, left him for 2 hours and no pee in the house! but, when he ran out to pee, he peed for almost 30 seconds so i know if we were a bit late, id have a surprise on the floor. yes, the belly band will reduce my stress 1000%. and hopefully maybe stop it if it's a habit. the other thing is that he hasn't been on a walk in 2 months. we live in the midwest and it's either 10 degrees outside or 2 feet of snow and no where to walk. that might be a factor. anywyas, i need to try something different for the both of us, just got my belly bands, we will give them a go tonight. should i put it on him while i am home so he gets use to it.

Cody doesn't react to it being put on him. It doesn't look like it's the least bit uncomfortable so I'm not sure you have to worry about him getting used to it, but it might be worth a try just to check it out.

One reminder....take it off of him when you let him out. Sounds ridiculous but I'm forever forgetting and chasing after Cody as he runs out to pee! Thank goodness I have a high privacy fence!

One more little tip. I find incontinence pads like Poise work best. They are the most absorbant and stay on them well. I have dogsat for people who use feminine pads and they didn't seem to work as well.
