Sleeover

Cousin Bella came for a sleepover last night. Oh the romps, chases and tug-a-wars! It was difficult to get a good picture of them because they kept coming out blurry from the action! I am sure Raffi's comb out later today will be fun, fun, fun!

Great picture! Did the yorkie play well with Raffi? We've run into some yorkies who didn't play well with Shama. Yesterday, Shama made friends with three shih-tzus who live in our neighborhood. Hopefully it will work out for them to come over once in a while so that Shama gets some canine companionship. It seems like a win-win for my neighbor and me. She doesn't have a fenced-in yard, and I don't have dogs for Shama to run around with. Attached is a photo. I get a kick out of how Shama just cozies up to anyone. She had just met that neighbor. That's why I think she'll be a good therapy dog.

ShamaMama, they play well together but Bella is certainly the alpha dog. For example if they both have say a rubber duck she wants his. He is usually fine with that and will just take hers or another toy. The only problem we have seen is if Bella is on my sister's lap (her mom) then she is jealous of Raffi getting attention from mom. Raffi also has a Pomeranian and two Boston Terrier friends. We haven't seen them much recently because the heat makes it difficult to take walks.

When you take walks in the heat, does Raffi stop dead in his tracks and refuse to move? That's what Shama does, sometimes even when it's not hot.

Yes, he does just stop but he really slows down first and starts panting. I usually pick him up for a while then. I haven't really walked him since we have consistently been in the 90s. It has been 95 to 97 recently with a heat index over 100 because of humidity. I am worried about the pavement as well. I am just trying to spend more short breaks in the back yard.
