End of shredding?

Ricky is 2 1/2 y.o. He was a big shredder as a puppy and as a young adult. However, for the last 6 months, he has lost interest in shredding. I guess I should count my blessings, but I miss that exasperating aspect of his life!!!! He is fully mature now and we can see how is transitioning in subtle differences in his personality, as much fun as a puppy, and in some ways more fun, but in different ways.

Any maturation experiences out there that you would like to share?

i was just thinking today, while picking up pieces of shredded paper towel, that i needed to ask if this particular habit ever ends . . .
good to hear that maybe someday it will . . .

sofie grabs every piece of paper she can get a hold of and shreds . . .
on walks i even have to keep watch that she doesn't acquire and shred the neighbors various newspapers!
she can be exhausting . . .

Molly is 2 1/2 and still loves to shred. It amazes me how fast she can snatch something up and have it shredded in no time.

Rocky will be 9 months in 3 days. Loves shredding virtually anything. Leave NO overhang on anything on the counter or it's gone!! He also loves mouse pads!!

Glad to see that one day there may be some relief in sight.

I would love to be able to replace the toilet paper in the holders in the bathrooms, but I fear that will be a number of years away.

When company comes, I try to put them back on the holder, but she systematically checks each room to see if they are back in the holders...I usually hear the bouncing noise as she pulls it off before I find the mess. If she could just be quieter, she could get a whole roll down in a minute or two.

Happy Havanese with a roll of toilet paper, a misplaced paper towel or napkin...

Poor Loki. I haven't let him near anything he can shred, except dead leaves! Maybe I will let him have the empty paper towel roll!

Well... Kodi STILL eats paper. (Not just shredding it!) but he definitely is not the same dog he was as an adolescent. He has a much better attention span, and NEVER needs reminders not to pull on the leash. (Well, except leaving the vet's office! )

While he's still playful with me, and occasionally with the girls, he's much more likely to sit on the deck and watch them as they run round and round and ROUND the garden in wild games of tag. He'll make a loop or two with them, then go sit down. I don't think that he's worn out, just that he doesn't have that frenetic need to burn off steam that they do. Of course, he's a LOT older than Ticky... Teuly a "middle aged" Hav at this point, as much as he's still my "puppy boy"!

And to those of you responding with dogs under two years... Although your pups may be full size at this point, they are still very much adolescent, brain-wise, until they are at least two.

I am lucky that Molly has never gone after the toilet paper in the bathrooms. She usually strikes when I get up from my chair and forget a napkin or kleenex on the end table. By the time I turn around and realize that I left it there it has already been shredded!

The only one of mine who has ever touched the toilet paper was Pixel, and it was last fall. I had some horrible flu-like thing, and was dead in bead for about 3 days. In fairness, she was an AWFULLY good puppy-nurse, staying in bed with me for almost 3 days solid, only leaving me during the day to use her litter box or get a drink. But one day, Dave walked into the room, and his eyes almost bugged out of his head. He said, "Have you SEEN this room?!?!" Well, no, quite honestly, I'd been asleep most of the day.

Pixel had taken the end of the toilet paper from the master bath, and TOTALLY papered the bedroom and bathroom. She only stopped when the toilet paper ran out! I wish I'd been feeling well enough to photograph it before Dave cleaned it up, but I was too sick to think about it!

...And KODI!!! He's the "stealth napkin thief". If we don't warn guests ahead of time, he VERY QUIETLY slides the napkins off their laps without them even knowing until they reach for them. Terrible very bad dog!
