Wet food...Messy face !!

I am in the process of transitioning to wet food and about ready to abort the idea due to the messy/dirty faces afterward. There are many on here with light-colored faces who feed wet (or raw) food so how do you manage to keep their faces clean? I know the most likely notion is to wash it afterward which I do, but it doesn't all seem to come clean. Is there a secret?

Smarty and Galen clean each others faces or they go to the sofa, I'm very glad it is leather. Face washing does get old after every meal. My raw is not nearly as messy as wet food.....except with large pieces and bones.....those they eat in a crate and get a bath or sink face washing.

I agree, the face washing gets very old very quickly. But it seems to be staining. I'm using SPA blueberry facial wash which I absolutely loved but it's not removing it all.

LOL...after feeding, Bentley and Taylor spend the next 15 minutes cleaning each other's faces. It's so cute and so amusing.

Scooter cleans Murphy & Gracie's faces, it's funny. Try putting the food on plates instead of bowls, that's what I do and don't notice much mess. Why the change from dry to wet?

Thanks Ann, I'll try that. Maybe not stuffing their faces right in their bowls will help.

I have tried off and on to transition to all wet but always met with "poopy butt" with Bentley. He seldom has loose stools anymore so attempting it again. Now there is a white-faced dog in the picture who face ends up looking like Bentley's used-to-be butt.

Sharlene - are the dogs good eaters? I feed Lola's food in a kong - for her it is to slow her down because she is a little piggy and might choke she eats so fast. It also follows the "work for it" principle. As a result she gets very little food on her face. Still, I wipe her face with a Nature's Bath pre-moistened wipe and comb with a flea comb to catch any little crumbs. Maybe your kids would go for the Kong approach? Only other one is hand feeding - and that is where I draw the line.

Anne, that's Taylor. His scoffs his food down in a nanosecond (then lets out this big loud burp you swear came from a Rotweiller). A kong might be a very good idea to slow him down.

Murphy does that too! He doesn't chew and then he burps so loud!

Where do you feed the knogs with wet food? This seems like it could be rather messy with wet food in it. I put very well cooked frozen cheap beef roast into the girls kongs for entertainment and something to do on rainy days. They spend hours throwing and banging the knogs trying to get the meat out and if Galen gets mad enough she shreads the knog. Red rubber everywhere.

Somewhere in researching the raw I saw plates with holes in them to slow down the eating. I’ll try to find.
