Treat recipe

nothing wrong with commercial treats so long as you use healthy ones. The healthiest treats are human grade food that is healthy and not overly processed . here's a good example

There are certainly healthy commercial treats, and I keep a few around for in a pinch.

The MAIn reason I stick with human foods is cost. Filet Mignon is cheaper, per pound, than most quality dog treats... cheaper than some of the non-healthy human dog treats too.

Another trick that we use is to use tapioca flour rather than wheat, rice or oats. It makes the treats nice and pliable, and keeps them from crumbling in your pocket or bait bag. (I don't use bait bags because it's a HUGE cue to the dog)

We have been slicing up sweet potatoes and dehydrating them. Pogo absolutely loves them. Do you see any harm in this?

Nothing at all. Sweet Potatoes are good food. That said, I don't give many (if any) treats just as hand-outs, and sweet potato is probably a relatively low value training treat for most dogs.

This was a good information! Mine I make mix treat for them with the fresh ingredients! Carrots and potato and I add up grilled egg shell.

I discovered the same thing...the cost of human food is usually less than "dog treats". For bagged convenience I buy frozen Tyson grilled cubed chicken breast as training treats. It comes in 22 oz. bags for a little over $6. For comparison purposes I saw Fromm treats on sale for $3.25 per 8 oz bag.

I went the people food route because Lola wouldn't eat "dog treats". The chicken cubes can be easily broken apart into several small pieces so it ends up being economical.
