Olympics

I usually only write when I have a problem but since I've been searching out UTI's on the Forum, I noticed that no posts have been made concerning the Olympics.

I know there are lots of Canadian members here. Are any of you going to the events? How about you and your Hav sticking close to the TV and watching the events?

I grew up in Wisconsin where Canadian money was common and people ended sentences with, "hey"? Canadians are a special group and the Olympics are showing off a beautiful country.

All Canadians must be incredibly proud of the young skater whose mother died unexpectedly a few days ago, and her incredible performances in her mother's memory that led to a bronze medal. Unbelievable fortitude and grace.

And, of course, congrats on the women hockey team's gold!

Ah yes. Joannie Rochette.
It was an emotional skate, and accomplishment to win the bronze medal in ladies' figure skating.
A great skate for her mother, in memory of her mother.

I love the Olympics no matter where they are but as a Canadian it has been fun watching them in Canada that's for sure. I'm into the hockey so will be glued to the set for the Canada/Slovakia game and the finals! Loved the game last night too.

I'm loving the Olympics, watching the hockey game right now. USA 6 - FIN 0. Not only great events, but such beautiful scenery. I've been to Montreal and Quebec, and many yrs ago to Toronto. I would love to visit out west someday. We even like curling.

hahaha!! so true, updates in real time from me

I am originally from Vancouver but live in Miami now. But, I was lucky enough to head home for a week, just got back to Miami on Wednesday night. I didn't get to see any live events, but I did attend one of the medal ceremonies (last Friday), and I picked up about $200 worth of Olympic pins to add to my collection! Went to a lot of the country and province pavilions with friends and generally just enjoyed all the festivities. Vancouver would be so much more fun if there were so many things to do all the time!

I bought my American boyfriend some Team Canada gear and I'm forcing him to wear it - hoping we hand the US a beat down tomorrow in the gold medal hockey game

GO CANADA GO!!!
