Registered Names?

Ahhh! Tim and I are trying to come up with a registered name for Roscoe, and it's so difficult.

I'm hoping that some of you guys might have suggestions as to where you looked for inspiration when naming your babies. HELP!

Funny this should come up now. I just took this from an article someone posted on another forum I'm a member of. Here's the "formula" this writer came up with to give registered names for the various breeds.

What's in a name?

The process would work something like this:
TERRIERS
Terriers, the wiry, fearless members of the canine world, could adopt a three-part formal name consisting of a synonym for "big," a caffeinated drink and the name of a Girl Scout cookie.
For instance, Gigantor's Caramel Brulee Frappuccino Trefoil or Mondo Apple Chai Infusion Lemon Chalet Creme.
WORKING DOGS
Working dogs, on the other hand, are the Joe Sixpacks of the dog world, and they need names that reflect that. So boxers, Dobermans, Great Danes and the like would combine a mountain range, the make of a pickup truck and a power tool to get their stage names.
The result: Intimidating monikers like Drakensberg Silverado Belt Sander and Adirondack Rodeo Lathe.
TOYS
For toys, like pugs, Pomeranians and Pekingese, the equation includes a precious stone, the title of a Disney song and a spice or herb: Sapphire's Chim Chim Cher-ee Black Cardamom, for instance.
SPORTING
Sporting dogs, like pointers and retrievers, can jazz up their names using a brand of sneaker, a sporting event and a style of beer: Saucony Dressage Lager, perhaps, or Nike Pommel-Horse Lambic.
NONSPORTING
For the more laid-back nonsporting dog, try combining the name of a cocktail, a locale popular with trust-funders and something you might find on a sushi bar menu: Singapore Sling's Aspen Oyster Euphoria is nice.
HOUNDS
For hounds, the sleuthing class, I propose a combination consisting of a member of the periodic table of elements, a well-known detective and a gadget.
So Nocci, when booking a table at a nice restaurant, could go by Strontium's Encyclopedia Brown LetraTag Label Maker. Certainly she'll get a window seat with a name like that.
HERDING
And The Bunk, a member of the herding class, could upgrade his own name by stringing together some storybook-sounding English town, an Ivy League school and a top-shelf liquor.
How about Sunbury-on-Thames Dartmouth Chivas Regal? Just look for him in first class.

First of all, do you have anything in your contract from the breeder on naming Roscoe? (e.g. a kennel name)
Secondly, why did you decide on Roscoe for a name?
Is there anything near and dear to you that may correlate to Maddie?

Those three questions should help us.

Yeah, his name must start with Yup's, but other than that I'm free to pick. I don't really know where Roscoe came from, I've had it picked out for a long time. I heard it years and years ago (like 10+) and thought it would be a cute name for a fluffy little boy dog, never thinking I would have one! At first, I didn't think it suited him but the more I got to know him the more he grew into his name. Nothing really that needs to correlate to Maddie - she isn't registered so there is no theme to go with

Ryan! Actually that kind of helps, I like the whole handgun slang thing, I'm sure I could come up with something related to that. Weird because the name I have picked out for my first son (no, not prego, and not for a long time, but I think about this crap) is inspired by the same thing. hmmm... This one is hilarious though:

All dogs answer to the name "Roscoe".
Hey there Roscoe! How ya doing boy!

But his name is Jeep.

He came didn't he?? That's a good Roscoe!!
Amy, I kinda like that! But I don't think Tim wants to go with the Dukes thing because that's not what we named Roscoe after. LAME! The hardest part of this whole naming process is that when I find something that *I* like, Tim pooh-poohs it!

Well, that gives you a few options or even a start for your own brainstorming. (Even though Tim may not like the Dukes theme, I added two.)

Yup's Bumbling Sheriff of Hazzard County (too long)
Yup's of Hazzard County
Yup's His Name Is Jeep (I kinda like this one. LOL)
Yup's Vintage Sidearm

I chose "Kodak Moment" because I am an avid photographer. Of course, now that film is going away, maybe I should have named him "SD Card" instead.<g>
