Does anyone use anything in particular?

I hope you find out. Rosie is good for three miles now that is the distance to the Vet. Anything over that and she pukes. I have tried dramine for a car trip of 60 miles. She made it about 50 and then started puking. This keeps me from taking her to mother-in-laws or going on trips with her. So far I just stay home.

What worked the best to keep Tori from when she was still getting carsick was liquid Children's Benedryl. Although it worked well to keep her from getting sick, it definitely caused her to be sleepy and drugged-like. I'm so grateful she's outgrown the carsickness.

Good luck!

That was the exact thing my neighbor was afraid of --so she got cerenia (or something like that-not sure of the spelling) from the Vet. It worked great when they drove across country

Sally,((Oliver)) Comet and Pennie too!

Months ago when Dexter was smaller, the vet did suggest Dramamine (given an hour before leaving house). I was just wondering if there is anything else out there, I will call the vet for sure.

I have heard of the Benadryl, but not sure of the dose, I would like Dexter to sleep a good bit during the trip (I will call the Vet for this one too).

It is also recommended that you do not feed the dog....Well...............when is my baby suppose to eat???????

I have heard ginger snap cookies will work..but my dog would not eat them :-} I read all the side effects on the medication the vet gave me for my dog and decided to just let him puke...I did not want to take a chance with the side effects.

Linda, here's a link to a short thread:

http://havaneseforum.com/showthread....avender&page=2

There was also a thread about folks using homeopathic remedies, something like a strip of gauze soaked in lavender and ginger (?) and hung from the rearview mirror that was highly recommended, but I'm not having luck finding the thread. Hopefully they'll post.

The entire last year, Benji didn't get carsick. And suddenly he has started getting carsick all over again. Bonine isn't working. I would like to hear about the homeopathic remedy too.

Leslie, how much Benadryl do you give to Tori? Benji is 13lbs.

Best, Poornima

She hasn't needed it for over a year now, thank goodness! But, when she was taking it, the dosage was 2.25 mL when she weighed about 6 lbs.

Thanks for the link! Dexter does not get sick in my car, but will get sick at times in dh car.

Dexter got sick in my car yesterday prior to kennel....so, I know this was anxiety for sure. I am kind of thinking car sickness when Dexter is in dh car............I just want him to rest and be comfortable while we are traveling. We will be traveling in dh car.

I did call the Vet and they prescribed something....I haven't looked it up yet, but I did ask if it was Dramamine and receptionist said no. So, I will check the medication out tomorrow.
