why is he pooping now!

how did i go from a house trained dog to one that's poopin and peeing in the house! okay, the peeing we know is a medical issue. we've adjusted meds. for django and did a steril urine test to confirm nothing else is going on. he pees on the pee pee pads 90% of the time when left behind up until a week ago.

about a week ago i changed the way we confine django to the kitchen. i removed his visual access to the garage door due to the new configuration. during that week, he pooped in the kitchen when left behind. mind you, he just pooped outside in the morning. i'd come home and he'd bark at me like he was telling me you stressed me out so much i had to poop in the kitchen.

i thought it was the stress of the new gates that was causing the poopin, his peeing wasn't on the pee pee pads, i had had enough and decided to go back to the old way with the gates.

well, he's right on the pee pee pads 85% of the time, kind of hard to be right on when you pee 3-4x in the kitchen, but the pooping has not stopped. we are going on day 4 and 4 days of poop in the kitchen. what's going on with my guy!

Lilly is puppy pad trained. I keep 4 of them together (she was having aiming issues). Yesterday I only put 3 pads down and Lilly puddled on the floor where the missing 4th pad should have been. lol. Today I put 4 down again.

I know this doesn't help with your problem but I do wish you luck in solving it!

Shoot, LittleBuddy's mom, I've no idea. I'd be beating my head against the wall! If I were you I'd go back to crating him or at least greatly reducing his room to ex-pen size and putting vinyl under it all.

How very puzzling...

Angeleke, I am so sorry. I think you are that right Django is stressed and confused. so many changes with his poor little body, and being on and off prednisone is not fun. he probably doesn't like going on a pad if he was trained for outside. But it must be so frustrating for you. Are you away from home more too? Could you find a neighbor to let/take him out? what about a doggie door/pen configuration? Have you checked for other health problems related to pooping (worms, giardia?)

I read your posts and I worry that I am going to upset the apple cart with my boys as I am going to have to go into work more in the coming months and they are used to me working from home a few days a week.

I have nothing really to offer other than to offer support and will follow your progress with interest. I do think these Neezers are more sensitive to changes and stress than many other breeds.

i'm lucky i work 5 minutes from home so during the peeing issue i would come home every few hours. i've increased the time now to 4 hours. i had also confined him to a smaller area in the kitchen and that's when the pooping started. i'm more shocked he can poop 2x in the morning!

i'ts so frustrating but what are you going to do. i talked to the vet about this being a behavioral issue and he said no. the fact he drinks a ton and pees a ton when i a home just outside indicates it's a medical issue. i was running home every hour the past weeks but realized i had to stop and get back to my routien. he will pee and poop whether i am gone an hour or 4 so i have to go about my day and just know what to expect when i get home.

i feel bad for him cuz i know he knows this is not where he's suppose to eliminate. hopefully this too shall pass now that we have stopped the prednisone all togther, changed his dose of precortin to a bit less and are waiting for the results of his urine analasys.

if only he would hit the target each time on those darn pads!

This is so darn frustrating. I feel for you!

I think he will self-correct when everything settles down. So many meds & changes. Just keep taking him out to poop whenever you are home & give him high praise when he goes outside. Also, try giving him a treat in the exact place in the kitchen where he poops. They don't like to soil where they have eater. And are you cleaning up the poop w/a scent remover, like nature's miracle? Just some ideas.

Maybe the meds are causing him to eliminate more often, too. Because at his age he should be going just 1 -2 times a day. You're not leaving food out all day, right?

I know how the apple cart gets upset so easily with these dogs, Heath is like that.
Hang in there, it will get better!

HAV A GREAT DAY ! ~~AMY & BISCUIT~~

great tip on giving treats in the pooping area.
yup, using natures miracle.

he ususally poops 2x a day but with the weather being so cold, he goes 1x a day until last week. he eats all his food in the morning.

i now things will get better. its going to be 45 degrees this weekend! great weather for walks!

Gryff's been pooping in the house too, sometimes even just after pooping outside. And…he always does it right on the fringe of an expensive oriental carpet. GRRR.
