(I already answered in your other post, so will just copy it here.)

Are you looking to breed? If so, you won't find any reputable breeders that will sell you a dog to breed. We have a "Sticky" that talks about what one should look for in a breeder, it might be a good place for you to start to see what you have ahead of you should you decide to pursue the idea of breeding. :-)

Your best bet is to find a good breeder and basically apprentice under them, learn the points of the breed, conformation, showing, learn about the breed from their perspective. There is a lot to breeding healthy dogs that hold to the standard of the breed.

Welcome to the Forum.

I'm afraid I'm not a breeder-- There is a lot of work involved when it is done right, and I'm not at that level.

Ditto above, but a 6/7pound havanese is also most likely one that could experience serious health problems like liver shunts. Sometimes, there are small havanese born, but no responsible breeder would try to breed that small. if that's your goal, you're actually causing more harm.

Your female is not old enough to even health test. (she must be 2 years old for final hip X-rays) Have you shown her to her championship (or are you planning to do so? Has an experienced breeder gone over her for you and told you that she might be a good enough dog to breed? Have you studied her pedigree carefully? Do you know what other lines she might cross with well? What other types of dogs might improve her?

Even if you have done ALL those things (which sounds unlikely from your posts) a far better choice would be to find a good quality stud dog, with the qualities you are looking for and breed her to that dog. The cost will end up being much less, even with the stud fee.

IF your bitch is actually breeding quality, and you now buy a dog puppy, you will have the problems of keeping them separated every time she is in heat. You will have to show him to his championship, (which he will never get if he is as small as you are talking about, because he will be outside the size standard, even if perfect in every other way) and wait until he is old enough to finish HIS health testing, plus pay for all that health testing.

I suggest that you go to some shows in your area. Find what style of dogs you prefer, and AFTER they are done showing, approach those breeders. Ask if it is possible for you to start learning from them. If you are polite and not pushy, and really willing to learn about breeding FOR THE RIGHT REASONS, you will find someone local to you who can help you learn about the breed and how to choose and assess breeding stock. They will also be able to tell you whether your bitch is worth working with at all for breeding, or whether you are better spaying her and enjoying her as the wonderful pet she undoubtedly is!

WOW! Sounds awful! I used to know a breeder who bred smaller healthy AKC Havanese. They were real cute, healthy and sturdy. I lost their phone number and they moved and I can't locate them. If anyone can help me -- I would really appreciate it!!!!

I think you mean well, but please educate yourself before breeding.
