Is ham ok for dogs?

Not being a meat eater myself, I've never had this in the house but is ham ok? I had a particularly bad morning walk yesterday with the boys and in getting ready this morning to take them out I saw some deli type ham slices in the fridge. It must've come home from the weekend boy scout camping trip. Would this be ok to use as a training treat?

Thanks, good to know! I haven't been able to even get out yet because the weather is bouncing back and forth from sun to rain. Now I know to put the ham in the trash.

Ham has too much salt - and fat too. Ham & bacon are both bad for dogs and can cause pancreatitis. I believe the high amount of salt is the culprit, but that is off the top of my head.

I would like to know too. Just Saturday I gave Bumi some bits and pieces of Ham tha I was cutting for the Pizza I was making. Is not something that I plan to include on his diet, it was just a one day thing, but I would also like to know what is wrong with it?
Tks

Kimberly is right. Too much salt can cause pancreatitis.

I was told that all pork is bad for dogs and can make them deathly ill. We don't take chances on any of that - no pork for Abby. She won't like that - DH is grilling pork chops for dinner tonight!

Kathie, if you have any information on that, I'd like to read it. I'd be surprised if all pork is bad. Pork fat, yes, and pork skin, yes, but pork meat is such a lean meat in general.
