sleepy pod air

I think I saw a post on this but I can't find it. Has anyone used a Sleepypod Air for plane travel? If so how big are your dogs? What others airline approved carriers have you used/liked? We are planning a plane trip over Labor Day weekend so I need to get organized!!!!

I really like the Sleepypod Air for our 7 pounder. It's very sturdy and fits under every seat we've been in. She can see us through the mesh top. I unzip it just a little to stick my hand (or foot) in if needed. I think it would work for most Havs that are 15 lbs or under.

The Air is too small for our 18 pounder (not a Hav, but has a similar body shape), so we use the large SturdiBag for him. We've probably flown about ten times with our dogs and never had any problem with either of these bags. The SturdiBag has a very flexible top, and it has always been able to fit under the seats (we do fly United Economy Plus, and have never tried it in Economy seating). No one has ever questioned the size of the large SturdiBag, even though it's slightly taller than the regulations state. I believe the Sleepypod Air meets all the airlines' regulations for size.

I have one, and it worked fine. Lola was 12 pounds at the time, and it was close quarters.

We fly Chi Chi (8.5 lbs.) in a medium Sherpa carrier. She loves it. She even likes to relax in it at home. We fly American and it fits under the seat without a problem. It has top and side access. We also use it when shopping around town and don't want to take a stroller.

Reporting back - We went to Florida last weekend to see my parents. The Sleepy Pod Air worked great. Loki didn't make a sound on either flight. I have also been using it as a car carrier. It seat belts in great in the back seat. He is so quiet in it ... I had to wake him up yesterday when we got home from a 45 minute drive.

Also, he was fine when I carried the bag through the airport. It didn't seem to bother him at all.

I am very happy with the carrier. I would definitely recommend it.

How much does your boy weigh? I am considering the Sleepy Pod Air for my 2. I don't think Rexy at 9.4 lbs will be an issue but am a little concerned for Leo at 11.5 lbs.

He is only 8 lbs. but there is plenty of room. He was curled up at one end when I opened it the other day and he didn't take up more than half the space. Even then, he is mostly hair. I like it because it is cozy and he doesn't bark. In fact, he will go in it if it is just sitting on the floor. He never complains about getting in it in the car.

I also ordered and tried the snoozer rolling bag (Dawn uses it for Java) but Loki could see me too easily in the car and barked the whole time. That wasn't going to work for me so I returned it. I know Dawn said Java was fine in it on their trip.

You can always order one and see how Leo fits. You can return it if it doesn't work.
