RLH *Running Like H---

Hope everyone is "hav"ing a great day!! Mimi was recently introduced to Gordo and it took her a few days to warm up to him, but they are both playing together non-stop. With the weather being so nice out today, (I couldn't wait for the weather to get like this) I took the pups outside since early morning and they spent a few hours chasing, pouncing, and rolling... It was such a joy to watch!
Anyhow, Mimi started Running LH and poor Gordo just looked at her like she was crazy... there was no way he could catch up with her or run after her. He just stood in the middle of the yard while she tried to get him to run.

I started to wonder what your experience was when you first saw your havanese RLH. Did you wonder what they were doing? Did you know why? For those of you that had puppies, at what age did they start?

*I didn't realize what Mimi was doing until I read about it on the forum. We thought it was hilarious!

RLH is usually the high light of my day, I know, that's quite sad but it's true! I so love watching them run, sometimes chasing each other but sometimes one of them will just start running and the others will just watch. Makes me every time!

It cracks me up too. Ruby joined in the fun awhile ago and I'm always amazed at the speed she can maintain as she runs rings around the boys.

When we first got Cooper as a rescue, he was so shy. But the first time I took him and Max outside, he took off after Max and that smile lit up his face and he ran and ran! I was so surprised to see him look so happy!

I found the clip of the day I let Cooper outside. Notice I still have his leash on in case I have to chase him down for any reason. That was a recommendation by Havanese Rescue.

I also didn't know he liked to play with balls. There just happened to be a ball out there and he had fun with that, too. That day was my first clue that this boy was going to be a keeper. :-)

Ha . . . Janan, maybe Cooper was like Tom Hanks on Cast Away, and his only friend was a ball! Very cute clip!

All our dogs have always done the RLH. My mutt growing up did it, and both our labs would do it in the yard around the magnolia tree. We used to love to watch them try to cut each other off. The biggest difference is when Jackson does it in the house. He has a path through a number of rooms, and my favorite part is when he jumps from one area rug to the next as if he's jumping over water! I'm sure it's because he loses traction if he touches the hardwoods.

Kathy, I love the mind picture of Jackson jumping from area rug to area rug. I bet you're right about the wood floors. It is hilarious to watch mine try to turn the corner when they are doing their rlh on our wood floors. lol

Daisy is a year older than Beau. Last summer, when he was just a few months old, he didn't know WHAT to think when Daisy tried to provoke him into RLH. By late fall, he would chase her, but couldn't quite catch her. This was HER favorite time.... Now, he is faster than Daisy. If she tries to catch him, she has to cut him off around lawn furniture etc. If he is chasing her, he catches her and send her tumbling head over heels! She loves it though and goes right back for more!

Bells will RLH around our chocolate lab with her "boo-boo" in her mouth. She runs around Maggie growling. It is soooo funny. It stops everything in our house. We all sit and watch until Bella runs herself down. We love it when she does this. I'll have to get out my video camera!
