Remembering the Havs and other Fur Babies we lost in 2016

Today I found some Christmas gifts that I had wrapped and put away for Milo and Brookie. I can tell you that the tears came quickly, and I was overwhelmed. I thought that this would be a good place to salute the wonderful fur babies that have left us this year and are waiting for us over the Rainbow Bridge. Brookie, we think of you every day - thank you for always trying so hard and bringing sunshine into our lives. We miss you so much.

What a wonderful idea and I love how you turned sadness to sweet remembrance. I had a similar thing happen just last night. 3 years ago boxing day we lost our beloved kitty of 18 years Clooney. He was very dog like in his affection to us and his personality, very loving, so the loss was big and over the holidays didn't help. I was wrapping gifts last night and I recycle gift bags and use them over and over. I came across one when I was wrapping the dogs presents and the old tag was still on it that said to Clooney love Santa and it brought tears but also it brought back all the wonderful memories and fun things he brought to us over the years too and as I wrapped Ollie and Hershey's gifts I smiled thinking about Clooney and the joy he gave us.

Thank you so much for starting this thread. I was wrapping presents just last night, and ran across several old tags that my husband and kids had put on gifts to me that read 'To Mom From Kirby'. Of course, tears immediately sprang to my eyes. I will always miss the little guy, but I have all of my wonderful memories. Here is a picture from last Christmas.

Ahhh- what sweet pictures you guys.

It wasn't this year - but my family lost a beloved Blue Persian that was 17 years old, 2 years ago.
We still have not recovered completely. She lived at my parents. But Christmas is always a reminder of her because
she broke my Dad's tough exterior of "not liking animals" one year when she jumped into a doll carriage my mom
was getting out for my niece for Christmas Day and wanted to be pushed around! Imagine this gruff 6'2" man pushing
a Persian around in a doll carriage! LMAO After that he was HOOKED. Nothing was too good for HIS Bluey
He took that cat to the vet DAILY 40 minutes round trip for over a year to get an injection to help her live longer.
To this day he keeps her ashes and a picture of her in that carriage next to his chair.
One day my mom said he even took her ashes outside to listen to the game on the radio. He is heart broken still.
She was a great friend. Bless our Bluey for making him a softer person in my eyes.
*sniff*

We remember our Havi boys, Frederick and Spencer who we lost in September of this year, and our Havi girl Violet who we lost two years ago. We miss them very much!

I have to say that this thread brought me to tears as I remember my heart dog, Foxy who we let go to the bridge two years ago in February. She was a Pembroke Corgi and I loved her as much as if I gave birth to her.
