What a beautiful girl with a beautiful BOW! Tell us about your therapy dog class. Once a week for eight weeks? I want Shama to be a therapy dog one day, but so far we've just been taking puppy/obedience/agility classes as there are no therapy dog classes around here . . .
The therapy dog class isn't official. There's a 10:30 Saturday class at the local Pet Smart that's invite only for advanced dogs. Lola was just invited to start. Most of the people/dogs have been going off and on for a least a year or two. The group sort of votes what they want to work on over a six-week period. Due to one lab, who is already a certified therapy dog, going after a tennis ball on an elderly lady's walker while visiting an nursing home, the group voted to work on stuff like that. Today, we had walkers, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, and boots. We took turns using them and walking around with the dogs, greeting, dropping the canes, etc. Lola remains unfazed by everything as long as there are treats nearby. Sadly, she can't even pass the CGC due her backing up when most people try to pet her. I still thought it would be good to get her exposed to these things. It was fun, and the people in the group like to go out to lunch after. I'll join them next week.
About the bow, if any one is interested, I've found the cutest and best quality bows from two places: All About Yoshi on etsy, and the one Lola is wearing comes from Angelz Bowz AngelzBowz | Beautifully Handcrafted Dog Bows
. With angelz bowz, you have to be prepared to wait longer than you want (think two months or longer), but they are really high quality and worth it as long as you know what you're getting into. All Lola's bows are actually barrettes, so I can use them multiple times.
